The spirit songs scream across heaths
Flensing the rind of my soul
Corrosive comforts
In an miasma of dissolution

A threnody that scours the paralyzing raptor claws
Of a lifetime of unrealized

And it as at this point that revelation
With the force of a thousand spear-points

A face etched with the lexicon of
Stares back pallid, jaundiced eyes
glitter with suppressed, shrieking desperation
To
To claw away the threads of cloying
To this stooped sarcophagus
Into the carcass-field my feet
- silence - void
The triptych I seek

Yet

Extant not is thy
Within this corrupted patina of
Still the Cathedral stands
And in those shadows
of centuries shrivel and die

I move on
I must this weary patchwork of cursive limbs
Through a mire
Endless, oppressive

Each tread summons the of a thousand scouring exhalations
Inch by inch, step by step, slowing,
Until - a puppet with strings severed by the scythe of embitterment
A figure
