A horrible sight now relate,
On Elk it did take place,
On morning at nine o'clock,
The people met an shock.
At Triplett's this begun.
The brothers met, it in fun.
They drank all as one,
And the trouble it begun.
Then Marshall seemed to in the rear,
and Columbus with the chair,
"There is one that I do know,
You drink only to your own."

Mrs. went to stop this wrong.

And him on the ground to die.
Then Marshall's in great distress
Stayed by her husband in death.
The children's was heard around,
did produce a solemn sound.
Then Lum off at to go away
And met Triplett on his way.
At Triplett's this was said,
Lum to Gran, "Your father's dead."

I've killed your at his home.
now surrender up to thee.
You me kindly if you please."

If you killed father I'll you."
He then beat Lum at a dreadful
And bad bruises on his face.
Gran then took Lum to jail.
He went behind the to stay.
Those beats and they inflamed,
Which Columbus to his grave.
Those brothers sleep in the graveyard,
Their and children troubled hard,
resting place there sure must be,
Till they shall at Judgement Day.
At Judgement Day we hope they'll
To meet Savior in the skies.
To sing God's praises and o'er,
And be with Christ more.
The sheriff then on the round.
To see if could be found.
at his home he did abound,
And at place he was then found.
Sheriff Webb held up in our town
And him on to the chain gang.
For months he there must stay,
Except the governor him pray.
Young men, warning by this case,
Don't use strong drink in life's race.
Leave all such stuff far behind,
And your kind parents you mind.
